Passionate About Serving People with Excellence & Integrity

David A. Montgomery was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, and graduated from Holston High School. He attended the University of Tennessee and Duke University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1976. After graduating from Yale Law School, he practiced law in Atlanta, Georgia for the next 15 years. While there, he completed advanced training in estate and tax law by earning a Master of Law in Taxation from Emory University School of Law. His law practice focused on estate planning and administration, tax and business law, and he was elected to the Atlanta Estate Planning Council.

In 1995, David took a hiatus from the practice of law to pursue a career as a Christian missionary in Moscow, Russia. He went on to attend seminary in the Chicago area and served as a pastor at a church in Williamsburg, Kentucky. In 2016, David returned home to Knoxville, TN, to focus on serving as an estate planning lawyer in Knoxville, TN. He opened David A. Montgomery Law, specializing in wills and estate planning, probate and estate administration, conservatorships and guardianships, and family law.

Outside of his law practice, David, his wife, and their three sons have made their home in Knoxville, TN. In his free time, David enjoys spending time outdoors, traveling, and spending time with his family.
